Charnel House

An odd novel by Dean Koontz

A very odd limited edition from Charnel House.

Odd Thomas has a gift. He can see the dead.
Together they just might be able to prevent hell on earth.
Or not!

Here at Charnel House we take great pride (and artistic license) incorporating key elements of each story into our award winning book designs. Without spoiling this incredible story, two locations of interest where odd events happen (or not) are a diner, and a bowling alley.

The book is an odd 12 inches high by 6 inches wide. The narrow text block is designed to resemble a bowling alley with page numbers on bowling pins at the top and lane markers at the bottom of the page. Each chapter opening initial capital letter is on a rolling bowling ball and the endleaves are score sheets. Seven custom type fonts and five spot hand drawings printed on luxurious 80lb. archival paper are used in the production of this book.

This title is available in two editions:

Numbered Edition (only 500 created)

  • Bound and slipcased in German Iris Linen
  • Hand applied label inset along the foredge of the front cover

Lettered Edition (only 26 created)

  • Hand sewn
  • Bound in Diamond Quilted Stainless Steel custom made for this edition
  • Red Morocco leather spine stamped in silver
  • Housed in a hand made felt-lined slipcase

We have been working with the different options that are available in manufacturing the stainless steel for the lettered edition of ODD THOMAS and the book is now in production. After a prototype was constructed we decided against the fingerprint resistant coating. It was a great idea but it takes the mirror quality away from the steel. Cleaning directions will now be enclosed and we will even include a pair of white gloves for handling.

We respectfully advise ordering this title in advance to avoid disappointment as these editions tend to go out of print quickly. The 26 copy Lettered Edition has been known to sell out in it's first week of announcement.
